A different way to travel

The Medellín Life Chapter

Not a tour. A chapter of life in Medellín — 15 days for curious adults who want a rhythm, a neighborhood, and a table with their name on it.

You live in El Poblado, the city's greenest and most walkable neighborhood, with your own apartment and a cohort of 20 travelers in a similar season of life. Mornings begin slowly. By the fourth day you're riding the metro alone.

Structure enough to feel safe. Space enough to feel alive.

The plan

What your 15 days are built around

Every Medellín chapter is designed around four things. Everything on the calendar serves one of them.

  • Meaningful relationshipsA cohort of 20, in the same building, at the same table.
  • Health and well-beingEternal spring, real rest, fresh food, and a pace that suits you.
  • Lifelong learningSpanish, coffee, history, and a city that rebuilt itself in public.
  • Gentle adventureGuatapé, cloud forest and colonial towns — never at dawn, never rushed.

And free mornings, evenings and whole days built in on purpose.

A letter from our founders

Years ago, living in France, Manuela met an older couple who spoke about Colombia the way people speak about a dream — with certainty that one day they would go.

They never did. Not because of money, and not because of health, but because they never found a way in that felt safe, warm, and possible for them. That stayed with us.

We grew up here, in a Medellín the world had largely written off, and we have spent our adult lives inside its reinvention — the trains, the libraries, the neighborhoods that came back. What was missing was someone local to design the way in. Someone present, and accountable.

So we built it, from Medellín, with our own names on it. We choose every host, every driver, every table.

One city. Two weeks. Three promises: community, curation, care.

Why travel with us

Live your best chapter. We'll handle the rest.

Four things every Worldward chapter gives you, wherever in the world it happens.

Travelers buying tropical fruit at a Medellín market

Live like a local

One neighborhood for two full weeks. Markets, bakeries, parks and a café that learns your order — not a bus window.

Travelers arriving with luggage at their apartment building in El Poblado

A home, not a hotel room

A furnished apartment with your own kitchen and a door you close. Every one visited and approved by us, in person.

A specialty coffee roaster showing travelers coffee cherries at a finca

Colombia, edited with care

Coffee with the roaster who buys the harvest. Comuna 13 with someone who grew up in it. Depth, not checklists.

A local guide walking travelers through the street art of Comuna 13

A local team, every day

A bilingual Chapter Host on the phone daily, verified drivers, a licensed operator, English-speaking medical care.

Invisible safety

Verified transport, curated zones, clear protocols — handled behind the scenes, so what you feel is freedom.

Instead of being escorted everywhere

Well-being, not a clinic

Gentle movement, real rest, fresh food, a climate that softens the body. Never a patient.

Instead of a senior travel program

A chapter, not a trip

Many come to find out whether a season of life abroad could work for them. 15 days answers that honestly.

Instead of two weeks of sightseeing

Founders, not a call center

The people who designed this are at your welcome dinner — and on the phone at nine on a Sunday.

Instead of a ticket number

The rhythm of your two weeks

Our signature rituals

Community shouldn't be an obligation. It should be a rhythm you look forward to — and free days to skip it.

The destination

Why Medellín

A city of eternal spring in a green valley at 1,500 meters — where the weather never asks you to plan around it.

Easy on the body, interesting to the mind. Mountains you can reach in an hour: coffee farms, cloud forest, colonial towns. And the part no photograph captures — paisa warmth. People here talk to strangers, correct your Spanish kindly, and remember how you take your coffee on the second visit.

18–28°C

All year. No season to avoid.

1,500 m

Mild, dry, easy air.

4–6 hrs

Direct from Miami, NYC, Houston.

GMT−5

Same hours as the US East Coast.

Where you'll live

A boutique aparthotel in El Poblado — bakeries, parks, clinics, the metro and a dozen good restaurants within a few blocks, on streets that stay lit and busy after dark.

You won't be living among strangers. Other members of your cohort are in the same building, a few doors away or a floor up. Privacy when you want it, company when you don't.

Before you ask

Frequently asked questions

Is Medellín safe for travelers over 50?

Yes, with the same common sense you'd use in any large city — and we remove most of the guesswork. Curated neighborhoods, verified transport for every group activity, and a bilingual host reachable daily. We'll also brief you on the few simple habits locals themselves follow.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No. Your chapter runs in English — every ritual is led by bilingual hosts, and any question is answered in English, any day. Spanish is there when you want it: in the classes, and in the city outside your door.

Is this suitable for solo travelers?

Very much so. You get an apartment to yourself at a single all-in price, with no supplement added later — and because other members of your cohort are in the same building, company appears naturally without anyone forcing it.

What are the mobility requirements?

You should be comfortable walking about a mile on uneven surfaces and managing stairs at some sites. The building has an elevator and most days include long unscheduled stretches. If you use a cane or walker, write to us and we'll walk through the details.

How big is the group?

Never more than 20 travelers, and often fewer. Small enough that everyone learns each other's names in the first three days.

Can my family visit during the chapter?

Yes, and many do — we just ask that you register guests in advance. Signature events are reserved for cohort members, but visitors are welcome at the informal outings that happen constantly.

Is travel insurance required?

We include a basic policy for every participant, so you are covered from the day your chapter begins. If you want broader protection — higher medical limits, cancellation, valuables — you are free to buy an additional policy on top of ours. Write to us and we will send the full conditions of what is included. We can also connect you with English-speaking medical care in Medellín if anything comes up.

What if I want to stay longer than 15 days?

Many travelers extend. Ask us about combining your Medellín chapter with the Coffee Region or the Caribbean coast, about the 21-day format, or about staying on in your apartment before or after the cohort dates.
